Re: Frame Above: BiAxial Conversion Tee Fittings $9/ea
These Tees convert 1.5 NPS pipe (1.9" od) to 1.25 NPS pipe (1.66" o.d.) and similar tube sizes. Simpally remove the bushing by retracting the setscrew and the fitting becomes a 1.5 pipe size. Add a cross pin to these tees for a buck. Better fittings,....and Made in The USA. These fittings are aluminum and wont drag you to the bottom of the river. Unit weight: 1/4kg
These fittings are beautifully TIG welded and offer a means of interconnecting 1 1/4" IPS pipe a sleek profile finish. Simpally lock into place with a dab of marine epoxy. These fittings have .007+-" radius clearance atop 1 1/4 IPS NPS pipe. Construction 6061-T6
The American National Standards aka ANSI as well as ASTM adopted the pipe size dimensions as a holdover from yesteryear (pre computer). These dimensions were chosen for ease of computation in the calculation of internal hydraulic friction. Pipe sizes are not the same as tube sizes. Pipe telescopy sizes are available in some cases between aluminum and aluminum and FRP. To raft chassis builder, the possibilities are endless tempered with a little planning, perhaps a little engineering, and imagination.
The Welder. I don't show his real image since his ex wife is gunning for him. However, he has better than a million pounds of TIG welding experience, mostly aluminum, fair bit of stainless and almost all from the water treatment equipment field. His welds are drop dead gorgeous and unsurpassed in the whitewater chassis field.
We'll call him Bubba for the time being. Bubba is egocentric (seem to run in the trade). Needless to say, the gray hair comes with experience.
Bubba flips out and gos apeshizt over the Middle Fork. Invite him on a trip and he'll weld you a nice ...frame....free.
