One of the items typically overlooked in a raft frame selection is its ability to carry cargo. Perhaps the cargo hasn't been purchased yet and first cost observations dominate. However, let me introduce the logic:
1) Purchase (or make) your cooler. Coolers are not Rocket Science and their width affects the frame selection.
2) Define your cargo as well as "where to put your feet".
3) Ask youself if you want to stand on a hard floor.
4) Do the layout detail.
Most Important: Don't buy a seat because it is pretty. Seat height affects rowing geometry. Brand Z will sell you a seat that is pretty,..... but totally disfunctional. An unsound seat selection may cause infinite discomfort.
A seat selection based on the ability to see above your mate's head is not rational. An inflatable travels with the current and traditionally 45 degrees from the longitudinal axis of the river. Sight is not the perceived issue that traditionally dominates seat selection.
Cata_Raft Chasssis have the ability to carry heavy loads supported by a lower cross bar transversly positioned inside the frame.
Not shown are the 8 inch centerline yokes ususlly stocked in a 56" CL top width. Use with MT8x12 Towers for an 9 ft optimum oar.
High Clearance Cataraft Yokes
The net affect of a High Clearance Cataraft is an
additional 4" (9" over NSR brand chassis).
The permutations of this yoke are limitless and
not shown herein are modification in the third axis.

1) A single 1.5 NPS Cat Yoke will support 500 lbs of static bouyancy centered in the boat about the longitudinal axis. Two yokes are the minimum quantity to define a cataraft chassis. There is no upper limit on the number of yokes.
2) 1.25"NPS Cat Yoke will support 300 lbs of static bouyancy centered in the boat about the longitudinal axis. Generally three yokes are the minimum excepting the single person play cats.
Dymamic loading may be 70% higher than static loading. The inertia of a fully loaded large cooler generally the heaviest item in the boat.
A 150 Qt Cooler (37.5 Gal) Imperial may weigh as much as 350 lbs plus a passenger riding atop the cooler. This usually represents the worst case.
Clustering yokes about a heavy item is one method of achieving strength. Another method is gusseting a joint. Still another method is to reinforce by composite action. Feel free to consult on your specific application.
