The Art of choosing a cat yoke.
1) Determine your transverse cooler dimension.
2) Add 4" to the bottom chord dimension to determine the distance between the inflatable tubes.
3) Confirm adequate width. There is no st rule that determines if a cooler is to go sideways in a frame.
Frequently coolers are run tandem in the chassis allowing for alternative cargo configs.

Case in Point: YSA,8,11,56 with a Height (y) of 8” and a Reach(x) of 11”, Deflection Angle of 56 also works mighty fine as a YSA,7,12,56 and a YSA,9,10,56, within normal tolerances.

Notes on Cat Yokes:
General rule of thumb:
1) A single 1.5 NPS Cat Yoke will support 500 lbs of static bouyancy centered in the boat about the longitudinal axis. Two yokes are the minimum quantity to define a cataraft chassis. There is no upper limit on the number of yokes.
2) 1.25"NPS Cat Yoke will support 300 lbs of static bouyancy centered in the boat about the longitudinal axis. Generally three yokes are the minimum excepting the single person play cats.
Dymamic loading may be 70% higher than static loading. The inertia of a fully loaded large cooler is generally the heaviest item in the boat.
A 150 Qt Cooler (37.5 Gal) Imperial may weigh as much as 350 lbs plus a passenger riding atop the cooler. This usually represents the worst case.
Clustering yokes about a heavy item is one method of achieving strength. Another method is gusseting a joint. Still another method is to reinforce by composite action. Feel free to consult on your specific application.
