YeeHa Philosophy
YeeHas (RowFrame diamond plate side) weigh a little more. The plate weighs in at 1.4x2=2.8 lbs per ft of frame length....generally 13lbs on a 6 ft frame allowing for tower null space.
Yee Ha are not adjustable since they are a basically welded frame. If one knows the dimensions of their cargo, then planning is a simple affair and the deck is nice place to stand and pee. YeeHa availability is limited in length, a restriction owing to their shipping cube. For reasonable freight, 72 inch long frames ship reasonably. Longer frames are an issue. Yee-Has cost more reflecting the labor input.
In the olden days, most frames were Yeehas. The big box retailers touted the breakdown-ability of their frames in their own Tinkertoy promotions, the difference between old school and modern philosophies. The walking surface is my preference. One can add a 2x10 (or 2x12) to any frame and acquire such. However, timber is heavy, but cheap. It may warp and check when wet.
Most folks sell their boats and frames as a package. With YeHas, the frames generally stay with the original owner and boat goes a separate path....some of this owing to the import nature of the inflatable.
When freight is not an issue, there remains all-welded Ye-Has. This is the big box retailer’s biggest nightmare since it shuts them out of the market.
